NBA Furious Free Picks – Magic Getting Big Spread Tonight Versus Nets
CHARLOTTE BOBCATS -2 over Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks are now at full strength, going 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games. But on the road they’re just 2-5 ATS, and one of those spread wins on the road is against the pathetic Wizards. I will say this about the Hawks – they have two bonafide stars in Joe Johnson and Al Horford, but if you really watch Josh Smith play, then you know that he wasn’t worth the $55 million they gave up to keep him. The guy doesn’t play defense at all, and never rebounds. The Hawks give up just 97.3 points per game, but that has nothing to do with Smith. Bet on the home steady Bobcats to take care of business in the UNDER as they dismantle the road weary Hawks.
MIAMI HEAT -2 over Toronto Raptors
If Dwyane Wade wanted to make a case for himself as a potential MVP candidate, than averaging 34.8 points per game will certainly do the trick. Miami has suffered a couple rough losses, most notably against LeBron and the Cavs, but let’s be honest – Toronto isn’t in the same league as the Heat. The Raptors are a terrible 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 games, and the Heat are revving up for a playoff run. With a tight line against Miami generated from Toronto’s 7-1 ATS record when playing Miami, bet on the Heat to overcome behind the tour de force that is Dwyane Wade.
ORLANDO MAGIC -9.5 over New Jersey Nets
The Nets are never trustworthy on the road, and their 4-11 SU record in 15 games is proof. If you need more, then look no further than their 1-5 ATS record when visiting Orlando. The Magic may be led by the Master of Panic (nice job, Shaq!), but they won’t be panicking when the Nets come to town. Using stealthy perimeter shooting and a stalwart defense lead by Dwight Howard, the 5-2 ATS Magic will continue their strong showing against the Nets. They’ve been given spreads averaging -9.5 in the past three games, and have covered in all three instances. Bet Magic.
DETROIT PISTONS -9 over Golden State Warriors
The Pistons are riding a three game win streak after beating up the Celtics in the Garden and then taking care of business against Chauncey and the Nuggets. Detroit’s overall defense is fifth in the league with just 94.1 points allowed per game. But it’s their defense, which has dwindled in the stats cellar, that is making headlines lately. Rodney Stuckey, stepping in for the injured Allen Iverson, has been way more than a fill in. He looks like the rightful starter in Detroit. Against the 1-4 ATS Warriors, who never travel well, the Pistons will ride the outstanding play of Stuckey as they retool their offense to get Rip Hamilton more involved.
CHICAGO BULLS -6.5 over Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks started off as one of the better NBA bets to kick off the season, but now the Bulls have taken that spot. Milwaukee is an ugly 1-4 SU in their last 5 games, going just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games. The Bulls? A stiff 12-5-1 ATS record over their last 18 games should prove that they’re the real deal. The Brad Miller effect is bringing the best out of Noah and Thomas while Derrick Rose continues to bloom in to one of the premier guards in the league. With a 5-1 ATS record to protect when playing at the United Center, bet on the Bulls to take care of business.
