#21 North Carolina vs. #5 Duke Highlights Great Night of College Basketball Betting

February 9, 2011

#21 North Carolina Tar Heels travel to Cameron Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, February 9th, to highlight a great night in the online college basketball sportsbook.

Without a doubt the Tar Heels vs. Blue Devils game is the biggest matchup of the night, but there are a couple of other games tipping off at around the same time as Duke versus NC that basketball handicappers should pay attention to. #3 Texas takes on Oklahoma and Jimmer Fredette and #8 BYU battles Air Force. See a preview of all 3 games below.

Feb. 9th– NCAA BB Games

#21 North Carolina Tar Heels (17-5) at #5 Duke Blue Devils (21-2)

Where: Cameron Indoor Stadium, Durham, North Carolina

When: 9:00 pm EST

Fair Basketball Odds: Duke -7 ½

Analysis: Most basketball handicappers consider the Dookies to still be the best team in the nation. They should be no better than a -7 ½ point online sports betting favorite versus their biggest rival, North Carolina, on Wednesday night. Duke has a strong starting 5 and reserves Andre Dawkins and Seth Curry can get it going big time if you give them space. North Carolina has turned it on recently with 9 straight up victories in their last 10 games and 5 straight covers versus the spread. North Carolina is also 4 and 1 ATS versus the Dookies in the last 5 meetings at Cameron. Still, I can’t imagine the defending champs dropping a game to their hated rivals in front of their fans. I’ll back Duke to remind North Carolina who the best team in the ACC is.

#3 Texas Longhorns (20-3) at Oklahoma Sooners (12-10)

Where: Lloyd Noble Center, Norman, Oklahoma

When: 9:00 pm EST

Fair Basketball Odds: Texas -12 ½

Analysis: Texas is one of the best teams in college basketball. No, seriously. They are an amazing squad versus the online basketball spread. Texas has gone 14 and 4 against the spread overall this season including going 5 and 1 ATS in their road games. They failed to cover ATS in their last, however, because they could only beat Texas Tech 76 to 60 and the spread was Longhorns -20. That’s how solid this team is. Oklahoma is 4 and 2 against the spread at home this season. All that means is that, hopefully, Texas will be a 12 ½ point road favorite in this Wednesday night contest instead of a 16 ½ point road fave. Texas should roll over the Sooners.

#8 BYU Cougars at Air Force Falcons

Where: Clune Arena, Colorado Springs, Colorado

When: 10:00 pm EST

Fair Basketball Odds: BYU -5 ½

Analysis: I don’t know. My belief in the Church of Jimmer might be waning. The dude hasn’t scored more than 32 points in 3 straight games. He hasn’t hit the 40 point mark since Jan. 26th. I think I’m going to give the Church of Jimmer another shot on Feb. 9th, though, because Fredette and the Cougars should easily cover what might be a better than fair college odds line in the sports book versus Air Force. BYU has gone 1 and 2 ATS in their last 3 games while Air Force is 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 9 games. Fredette scored only 22 against Air Force when these two teams clashed in early January yet the Cougars won 76 to 66. I think Jimmer lets loose on Wednesday night and puts up closer to 35 to 40.
