#21 Missouri Hosts Desperate Baylor as Sportsbook Betting Favorites on Wednesday

February 23, 2011

The #21 Missouri Tigers host the desperate for a victory Baylor Bears as a likely big favorite in Sportsbook betting on Wednesday, Feb. 23rd.

Mizzou has solidified their position as one of the better teams from the Big 12 by going 3 and 4 straight up in their last 4 games. The lone loss occurred in a road contest against Big 12 leading Kansas, 86 to 103. Obviously, playing Rock Chalk on the road is much different than battling Baylor at home, but can Mizzou cover versus the Bears on Wednesday?

Check out some trends for this game.

  • The Baylor Bears are 3 and 8 ATS in their last 11 versus the Big 12.
  • The Baylor Bears are 8 and 3 ATS in the last 11 meetings.
  • The Missouri Tigers are 8 and 2 ATS in their last 10 games at home.
  • The Missouri Tigers are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 home games versus a team with a losing road record.

Missouri is one of the better scoring teams in the nation. The Tigers average 83.5 points per game off of 47.3% shooting. The Tigers have also been a successful sportsbook betting team in their home games this season. Missouri is 7 and 4 ATS this season in their home games. They’ve scored 84 points, in an 84 to 61 victory over Oklahoma, and 92 points, in a 92 to 84 victory over Texas Tech, in their last 2 home games. The Tigers have a ton of firepower and that firepower presents itself when they’re on their own home court.

I’m not sure if Baylor is good enough to keep up with Mizzou. The Baylor Bears only average 71.4 points per game. Percentage wise, the Bears are just as good as Mizzou at 47%, but if they get behind, it’s gong to be difficult for them to catch up just because Missouri is so much better on their home court than they are on the road. The Bears have a decent squad but they’ve shown in their past that they can lose it mentally. They lost a home game to Texas Tech 69 to 78 in their last as -12 ½ point favorites. Texas Tech is not that good of a ball club.

Missouri should be able to control the tempo versus Baylor because the Tigers take on the Bears at home. They have to be the team to back in the online sportsbook betting site in this game unless they are a larger than 8 ½ point favorite. If that’s the case, then hoops handicappers will want to rethink how they feel about the Missouri Tigers.

My gut tells me that Missouri won’t be a bigger than 6 ½ point favorite before tip-off in this game on Wednesday night. Because of that, I have to back the Tigers in their contest against the Baylor Bears on Feb. 23rd. Missouri appears dead set on playing as hard as possible and covering wagering spreads in the online sports book.

I’m going to go ahead and back Mizzou ATS in their contest versus Baylor on Feb. 23rd.
