2011 Pro Bowl Betting: AFC vs. NFC
Sunday January 20, 2011 – 7:00 PM ET
Aloha Stadium, Honolulu, Hawaii
Broadcast: FOX
Atlanta Falcons’ head coach Mike Smith will coach the NFC after his team finished with the best record in the conference and sent the most players of any team to the All-Star game. Meanwhile, it will be New England Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick that leads the AFC.
2011 Pro Bowl Betting: AFC Preview
Thanks to the New York Jets’ vaunted defense, the AFC will easily have the better trio of quarterbacks as Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Philip Rivers take the snaps for the conference. Brady and Manning were both eliminated by the Jets this postseason, but will be protected by a couple of lineman from New York as tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson and center Nick Mangold make the trip. That quarterback trio will look to air it out to a couple of wide receivers that Manning is very familiar with, as teammate Reggie Wayne and Andre Johnson of the AFC South division-rival Houston Texans line up at the wide receiver spot. The AFC will lose a couple of key starters to the Steelers’ Super Bowl run with Troy Polamalu and James Harrison unavailable, but will still undoubtedly have the better secondary with starters Ed Reed, Darrelle Revis, and Nnamdi Asomugha.
2011 Pro Bowl Betting: NFC Preview
While the Super Bowl was the ultimate goal, Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick will need to be satisfied with a Pro Bowl as consolation, as his magical 2010-11 season culminates in Hawaii. Vick wasn’t even a starter at the beginning of the year, and now he is being recognized among the best in the game. Vick will look to Roddy White and Calvin Johnson outside, while Michael Turner picks up right from where he left off with the Atlanta Falcons by pounding the rock on the ground. Asante Samuel and DeAngelo Hall will have a tough time keeping up with Johnson and Wayne, but do stand out for their ability to pick the ball off.
2011 Pro Bowl Online Betting Outlook
The NFC has the weaker roster overall, especially at the quarterback position where Brady, Manning, and Rivers easily rank among the top-five in the game. Belichick is as competitive as any coach in NFL history, and will want to end his season on a successful note personally. He’ll have tons of weapons to work with as the AFC clinches the close victory.
