2010 NFL Draft Odds – Cash In On Entertaining NFL Draft Odds

April 22, 2010

Do you know how many quarterbacks will be taken in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft?

How about running backs? Or wide receivers?

Correctly answering any of the above questions and more could turn out to be a profitable venture thanks to the creative NFL Draft Odds surrounding the upcoming NFL Draft.

Devoted NFL betting enthusiasts will be in all their glory in just over 72 hours – and this breakdown on just what bettors can expect in the first round of this year’s draft will give pro football bettors the insight they will need in order to make a plethora of bankroll-boosting selections.

With that though in mind and the draft quickly approaching, let me get started.

Number of Quarter Backs taken in Round 1
Over 2 Quarter Backs -600
Under 2 Quarter Backs +350

Analysis: There will undoubtedly be at least two quarterbacks taken in the first round with Sam Bradford going No. 1 overall to St. Louis and Jimmy Claussen likely landing in Buffalo with the ninth overall pick. The one variable in all of this is former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, a player with a huge upside despite all the knocks on him. Some NFL expert think  Tebow could land in Jacksonville with the tenth overall pick – and I’ve got the strangest feeling someone’s going to take a first round chance on Tebow – a winner no matter what anyone says about his prospects of becoming  a successful pro.

NFL Expert Picks: Over 2 Quarterbacks

Number of Running Backs taken in Round 1
Over 1½  Running Backs -350
Under 1½ Running Backs +225

Analysis: Times sure have changed NFL betting enthusiasts. Only two running backs are expected to go in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft with former Clemson tailback C.J. Spiller expected to go first to Seattle with the 14th overall pick and former Fresno State back Ryan Matthews likely going to San Diego with the 28th overall pick.

Former Cal running back Jahvid Best is expected to go in the second round but comparisons to Tennessee’s Chris Johnson could potentially make a team reach for Best before the second round.

I like Best a lot and think he could potentially turn out to be the best back in this year’s draft, so I think some team reaches for him before the end of the first round. Either way, there’s going to be at least two running backs taken in the first round.

NFL Expert Picks: Over 1½ Running Backs

Number of WRs and TEs taken in Round 1
Over 2½ WRs + TEs -130
Under 2½ WRs + TEs -110

Analysis: This wager is an absolute ‘lock’ for NFL gamblers as only former Oklahoma tight end Jermaine Gresham going in the first round this year. Former Arizona tight end Rob Gronkowski s expected to be the second tight end taken in this draft and that could come either in the late second round or early third. There is no way over 2.5 tight ends are taken in the first round this year.

NFL Expert Picks: Under 2½ Tight Ends

Number of Offensive Linemen taken in Round 1
Over 6½ Offensive Linemen -250
Under 6½ Offensive Linemen +175

Analysis: This selection is arguably the toughest pick on the board with at least six offensive linemen  – and possibly seven being taken in the first round, starting with Russell Okung and Bryan Bulaga and Trent Williams. I’m going to go with six offensive linemen being taken as I suspect some team is going to take a flyer on Tim Tebow in the first round.

NFL Expert Picks: Under 6½ Offensive Linemen

Number of Defensive Tackles taken in Round 1
Over 4½ Defensive Tackles +200
Under 4½ Defensive Tackles -300

Analysis: Starting with Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy leading the way, likely with the second and third picks and Dan Williams going between picks 10 and 15. I expect at least five defensive tackles to be taken in the first round and possibly six, making this pick a near-lock.

NFL Expert Picks: Over 4½ defensive Linemen

Number of Defensive Ends taken in Round 1
Over 4 Defensive Ends -250
Under 4 Defensive Ends +175

Analysis: Derrick Morgan, Jason Pierre Paul, Brandon Graham, Everson Griffens and Sergio Kindle are expected to be first round picks drafted in the just the order I wrote, making five defensive ends going in the first round. I personally believe four defensive ends will go in the first round, but if I had to lean one way or the other, I’d lean toward the Over here.
