2010 NFL Draft Betting – Upcoming NFL Draft Means Another Opportunity To Boost NFL Bankroll

April 21, 2010

The 2010 NFL regular season may still be months away from getting under way, but thanks to the upcoming NFL Draft – and some entertaining odds surrounding one of the league’s premiere events, NFL betting enthusiasts everywhere have an excellent opportunity to boost the annual betting bankroll long before the first snap of the 2010 season gets underway.

With just over 72 hours remaining until 2010 NFL Draft night, let me get started.

Which Player will get drafted First
Ndamukong Suh -500
Gerald McCoy +300

Analysis: By all accounts, the Detroit Lions will grab Suh with the second overall pick ahead of McCoy and if the Lions decide to take offensive tackle Russell Okung at No. 2, my sources tell me the Buccaneers are going to take Suh with the third overall pick ahead of McCoy. Suh goes before McCoy NFL betting fans and it’s a lock.

NFL Expert Picks: Ndamukong Suh

Which Player will get Drafted First
Earl Thomas +150
Joe Haden -180

Analysis: I like the explosive Haden to go to the 49ers with the 13th overall pick in the draft for a player that everyone knows has top 10 type of talent. Why these two are even paired up, is beyond me, but there is no way whatsoever that Earl Thomas, a free safety expected to go to Houston with the 20th overall selection, will get taken before Haden, a player that clearly has a chance to be special at cornerback.

NFL Expert Picks: Joe Haden

Which Player will get Drafted First
Golden Tate +200
Demaryius Thomas -300

Analysis: Former Notre Dame wideout Golden Tate had a fantastic NFL combine, running a blistering 4.36 and is a sure-handed receiver whose biggest strength may be his run-after-the-catch ability. The Kansas City Chiefs will almost assuredly take him with the 36th overall pick in the draft. Thomas, though clearly physically gifted, is a project at best that isn’t nearly the polished product that Tate is. If Thomas goes before the 43rd pick at the earliest, I’ll be shocked.

NFL Expert Picks: Golden Tate

Which Player will get Drafted First
Russell Okung -800
Bryan Bulaga +425

Analysis: I know Bulaga has impressed a lot of NFL personnel mean around the league coming into the draft following a stellar senior season and combine performance in Indianapolis, but everyone knows that Russell Okung is the top rated offensive tackle in this year’s draft and that he will go first among all offensive linemen, so this matchup isn’t fair, even though Bulaga could go just one spot after Okung.

NFL Expert Picks: Russell Okung

Will Sean Weatherspoon be selected in Rd 1
Yes -500
No +300

Analysis: Will Sean Weatherspoon, a fleet-footed linebacker out of Missouri get drafted in the first round? Uh, yeah … duh. Expect Philadelphia to shore up its pitiful linebacker core by taking Weatherspoon with the 24th overall pick – if Cincinnati doesn’t grab him at No. 21. Worst case scenario, Weatherspoon goes to New Orleans with the final pick in the first round.

NFL Expert Picks: Yes

Will Golden Tate be selected in Rd 1
Yes +175
No -250

Analysis: Unless someone really fell in love with Tate and isn’t saying so, there is no way he goes in the first round in a draft that will be dominated by linemen and defensive players early on. Tate could be the first receiver chosen in the second round, but I think Dez Bryant is the only wideout taken in the first round.

NFL Expert Picks: No

Will Brian Price be selected in Rd 1
Yes -150
No +110

Analysis: Price, a 6-1, 303-pound defensive tackle out of UCLA will go in the second round unless someone really reaches for this young player who does have plenty of upside. Still, there is no reason to reach for Price with at least four or five defensive tackles expected to be taken before Price ever hears his name called. Unfortunately for Price, he won’t be rolling in first round money.

NFL Expert Picks: No

Will Demaryius Thomas be selected in Rd 1
Yes -250
No +175

Analysis: There is absolutely no way that Thomas, a wide receiver out of Georgia Tech will be taken in the first round of this year’s draft. Dez Bryant looks like he will be the only wide receiver taken in the first round – and the general consensus is that former Notre Dame wideout Golden Tate will be the second wideout taken – early in the second round. Thomas will go at some point after that, but undoubtedly not in the first round.
